'Speak out,' a photographic exhibition by John Ellis, presents documentary images of Melbourne-based street demonstrations. The exhibition pays tribute to Australian artist and activist Noel Counihan.
'Protest - A Wider View' provides an international perspective of social protest sourced from the Robert Smith Collection. Artists include Kathe Kollwitz, Francisco Goya and Honore Daumier.

View the works of emerging artists commissioned to develop an interactive media installation on the themes of work, rest and play. Visitors can drive the three animated characters into a frenzied extreme of work, rest or play, or try to find a healthy balance using footpads a little like those dancing machines you see in fun arcades.

2006 also marks the 150th anniversary of self-government in Victoria. 'Naked Democracy' brings the two anniversaries together, sampling achievements, episodes and artefacts from 150 years of Victorian government, including the evolution of shop trading hours. The exhibition also looks at the changing idea of democracy since 1856, when Victoria's first Premier feared the outbreak of 'naked democracy'.
